Pass the Plate

Educating children on local foods is a new focus of the Disney Channel’s Pass the Plate, and what better audience to teach than our future youth.

My niece called me the other day to let me know that she watched a program on Disney about the importance of eating locally grown fruit and vegetables. She said the video she had seen on Disney focused on visiting your local farmers’ market and she knew I would be proud! (My niece and nephews often travel with me in southwest Missouri when I visit local farmers’ markets and agritourism operations.)

Tony, our new Marketing Specialist also brought up the Disney Channel this morning and how they were focusing on educating youth on where their food comes from.

Pass the Plate site is a great resources for local food producers. There are food facts, videos and kid friendly recipes that viewers can use to help market towards the younger generation.

Give it a look over today!
