Tons of Tomatoes Available at the 2008 City Market Tomato Festival

The City Market will host the second annual Tomato Festival on Saturday, July 5, featuring a Salsa Contest at the 105.1 Jack FM radio tent. Find family friendly activities such as putt-putt tomato, a knock the cans game and a tomato toss. Recipe sampling courtesy of the University of Missouri Extension Office, salsa dancing demonstrations by Kcsalsa.com, music performance by the String Beans, storytelling and Wonderscope art activity tent are also planned.

The National Agriculture Center and Hall of Fame will be on site highlighting the history of agriculture and the future of farming and Harvesters will be accepting perishable and non-perishable food items at the City Market Information booth from 8 am – 3 pm. Fresh, locally grown tomatoes, including many hard-to-find heirloom varieties will be available for purchase at vendor stalls throughout the City Market. Farmers’ Market hours on Saturday are 6 am – 4 pm and festival hours are 8 am – 2 pm.
